Endodontic Care

Accidents happen, and sometimes those accidents can cause major damage to your natural teeth. If you are experiencing severe pain because of a broken tooth, come to Fife Dental Care in Rio Rancho, NM. We provide root canals to help you save your natural tooth.

How Root Canals Can Save a Broken Tooth

There are many layers to your natural tooth. The part that protrudes above the gum, or crown, is comprised of enamel, which covers dentin, which surrounds the pulp that cushions the tooth nerve. When a broken tooth entails damage through all these layers, infection and nerve pain are very likely. However, there may be enough of the natural tooth to keep the root intact, which will prevent surrounding teeth from drifting out of place.

A root canal removes all damaged tissue and/or tissue that may foster bacterial infection as well as the tooth nerve, providing significant pain relief. Once a root canal is done, the broken tooth may be covered to protect what is left of the natural tooth while restoring the function and appearance of the tooth.
