Rebuild Your Smile After Tooth Loss
When injury, disease, or decay has led to the loss of multiple teeth — or all of your natural teeth — the impact on your daily life can be significant. Eating becomes more difficult, speech is affected, and many patients find their confidence quietly diminishes over time. At Fife Dental Care in Rio Rancho, NM, we offer custom-fitted full and partial dentures that restore the appearance and function of your smile, so you can get back to living and feeling like yourself.
Dr. Fife will take the time to understand your situation, walk you through all available tooth replacement options, and help you choose the solution that best fits your needs, your health, and your budget — whether that means a partial denture, a full denture, a bridge, or a dental implant.

Partial Dentures
When you are missing several teeth but still have healthy natural teeth remaining, a partial denture is often an effective and affordable solution. Partial dentures fill the gaps made by multiple missing teeth with a dental prosthetic designed to look like natural teeth — providing both a cosmetic solution and a solid, functional chewing surface.
Beyond restoring appearance and function, partial dentures serve an important protective role. They help reduce the stress placed on your remaining natural teeth during daily use and help hold those teeth in their proper position after tooth loss — preventing the gradual shifting that can lead to bite problems and further dental complications over time.
Full Dentures
Full dentures — also called complete dentures — are used when all of the natural teeth in an upper or lower arch have been lost. At Fife Dental Care, Dr. Fife takes precise impressions of your mouth to create complete dentures that fit securely and look natural, so that your smile looks as close to your own teeth as possible.
With well-fitted complete dentures, you can regain confidence, comfort, and the ability to eat and speak more naturally. Dr. Fife will work with you to ensure the fit, function, and appearance of your dentures meet your expectations before you leave our Rio Rancho office.
Conventional and Immediate Dentures
- Conventional Dentures: Conventional dentures require the gums, palate, and jaw to completely heal from tooth loss and any extractions before the denture is created and fitted. Once tissues have fully healed, a denture is made to fit the mouth perfectly. Because the healing process takes time, there is a period between extractions and the fitting of the final denture.
- Immediate Dentures: Immediate dentures are custom-fitted in advance so that any remaining teeth can be extracted and the denture worn the same day — meaning you are never without teeth during the healing process. Because the gums and jaw will change shape as they heal and soft tissues adjust to the mouth, immediate dentures may require more frequent follow-up visits for adjustments. For some patients, immediate dentures are a long-term solution. For others, they are worn until the mouth has fully healed and a conventional denture can be properly fitted.
What to Expect With New Dentures
New complete dentures do take some adjustment — but with immediate dentures especially, you can avoid the negative impact that a gap in dentition can have on your appearance, diet, and overall confidence. Dr. Fife will take several molds of your mouth to ensure your dentures fit securely and look natural.
During the first few days or weeks with new dentures, you may notice:
- An increase in saliva production as your mouth adjusts to the new appliance
- Mild discomfort or superficial soreness on the gums and palate that eases over time
- Minor changes in speech that typically resolve quickly as you get used to the fit
What Option is Best for You
There is no single right answer — the best tooth replacement option depends on your individual circumstances, including the number and location of missing teeth, the health of your remaining teeth and gums, your jawbone density, and your budget.
At Fife Dental Care, we take the time to explain every available option — including dentures, partials, bridges, and dental implants — so you can make an informed decision that you feel confident about. There is no pressure and no one-size-fits-all recommendation. We work with you to find what genuinely makes the most sense for your life.
